Tales of the Extinct is an attempt to create a ritual for mourning the vast loss of the natural world. It is a sculpture garden accompanied by a poetry book. Each sculpture is based on a plant species that has become extinct in a country in which I have lived, and acts as an artistic fossil. The sculptures use handcraft and fable to honour these plant species, representing and reimagining their intrinsic value and their right to be known, protected and preserved.
